About the Project
Economic Development Week, founded in 2016 by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), highlights the programs, best practices, and exceptional individuals that positively impact life in their communities. The 2024 theme celebrated economic development heroes who are pioneers in their communities.
Solution
I managed the marketing campaign for this week-long virtual event from 2019-2024. To promote Economic Development Week, I developed a multi-platform marketing campaign including an online toolkit with resources, social media templates, and a customizable template for businesses and cities to use.
To maximize engagement and extend the event’s impact, I utilized Whova, an event app designed to foster community building and networking incorporating games and a photo competition with prizes.
Outcome
This strategy transformed a one-week event into an ongoing, year-round campaign. In just a few years, Economic Development Week became one of the most widely recognized events of its kind, generating extensive media coverage and millions of social media impressions.
